DESCRIPTION

This area is rich with animal wildlife with a wide range of species. Veun Sai forest is also providing food, firewood, medicinal plants and fresh water for local communities.

In 2010, a ranger discovered a new species of Gibbon in the area, the Yellow cheeked crested gibbon. Since then conservation effords have been stepped up to protect this animal. Today, Veun Sai is the only place in the world where tourists can regularly spot the elusive Northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon in the wild.

PLAN YOUR TRIP

NOT TO BE MISSED

Visit to Veun Sai is wonderfully unique experience, due to its immense range of species and high density of wildlife. It is teeming with tropical birds, jungle cats, monkeys (including the beautiful red shanked douc, butterflies, reptiles and more. Exploring this forest is a unique experience for enthusiastic wildlife spotters and those who are interested in biology and nature conservation.

It is important to learn about the forest and see firsthand the impact of illegal logging, and how you can help.

1 – 2 DAYS STAY

Most visitors spend 2 days and one night at the camps. You will rise early at around 3:15am, you leave camp and trek to the edge of the jungle savannah. The aim is to arrive before dawn so you can be ready to hear the gibbons call as the sun rises. Once the gibbon song begins you have about a 15 minute window to locate the gibbons before they stop. To find the gibbons you will be walking and sometimes even running after your guide until they are spotted. Hearing the gibbon song getting louder is such a thrilling experience.
